New Delhi: India's limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday completed eleven years in international cricket.
The swashbuckling batsman from Jharkhand made his international debut against Bangladesh in an One Day International at Chittagong on December 23, 2004.
However, it took him almost a year to find a place in the Test squad as he played his maiden five-day match against Sri Lanka at Chennai on December 2-6, 2005.
Dhoni, first hogged the limelight due to his big hitting abilities and long locks. But later, he mesmerised everyone with his leadership qualities and went on to become the most successful skipper in the history of Indian cricket.
Under his captaincy India not only won the inaugural ICC World T20 in 2007 but also the ODI World Cup in 2011.
Though, Dhoni took retirement from Test cricket in December 2014, he is still one of the biggest brands in limited-overs game.
The 34-year-old ageing cricketer is now set to lead the Indian team in the forthcoming ICC World T20, scheduled to take place in India from March 2016.
