Pakistan need patience in new leader Sarfraz Ahmed as Pakistan T20I skipper
Sarfraz will need his cool head blended with the experience he has garnered so far playing at the highest level.
New Delhi: After the resignation of Shahid Afridi as Pakistan's T20I skipper, wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed will have plenty to chew upom as the side's new leader. Pakistan recently struggled in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 and will embark on a new journey from here on.
Also the resignation of national team coach Waqar Younis, means that the PCB will hope to find an ideal replacement and build upon their future from here on.
Sarfraz will need his cool head blended with the experience he has garnered so far playing at the highest level. Sarfraz has been a regular player in the Pakistan side in all three formats and will have to take it step by step in getting the team back to performing again.
Trouble has hit the Pakistan team after reports of fall-out of several players with Afridi in the side during the WT20 event. Also the Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam, had called Afridi as a clueless skipper in a report submitted to the PCB after the mega event.
Afridi is keen to play for Pakistan in the T20 format but it will be interesting to see whether the selectors allow him to feature in the squad.
Sarfraz will hope his side buries the differences and come together as an unit under a new coach. If Sarfraz clicks as a skipper in the shortest format, he could also be looked upon as a leader in all three aspects of the game in days to come.
It will also be interesting to see as to how the side gets youngsters in and allows them to settle in the squad.
