New Delhi: The Pakistani fan of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who was arrested for hoisting an Indian flag last month, was granted bail by a court in the country’s Punjab province.

This comes as a big relief for him.

According to a report in the Dawn online, the additional district and sessions court in Okara admitted the bail plea of Umer Daraz, who has been behind the bars for over a month.

Daraz was arrested on January 25 for hoisting an Indian flag on the rooftop of his house in Lahore after celebrating Kohli's knock of 90 runs in the first Twenty20 game against Australia.

A tailor by profession, Daraz had been charged with violating public order and “sovereignty of Pakistan” laws.

On Friday, the court went on to admit Daraz’s bail plea and ordered him to furnish a surety bond of Rs.50,000.

Daraz will submit the bond on Saturday and get bail.

Earlier, a magistrate, Aneeq Anwer, had rejected his bail plea on February 18.It was followed by a fresh bail plea which was filed in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Asadullah Siraj.
