London: Two Essex players - Ravi Bopara and Tino Best – faced three penalty points on Wednesday for breaching the England and Wales Cricket Board's discipline code.
The duo was reported after they lost their temper in a T20 Blast match.
After being given LBW, former England all-rounder Bopara angrily indicated to umpire that he had got his bat on the ball.
Similarly, West Indian pacer Best showed his frustration on the opposition batsman Ashar Zaidi, which earned himself a sanction.
In its statement ECB stated: "These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine, 18 or more penalty points in any two-year period will result in an automatic suspension."
