South Africa vs England, 5th ODI: AB de Villiers ton helps visitors to clinch series 3-2

The fifth and final ODI match between South Africa and England is being played at Cape Town.

Newlands: Riding on the ton by skipper AB de Villiers, South Africa beat England in the fifth and final ODI by 5 wickets, to clinch the series 3-2 at Cape Town on Sunday.

South Africa had won the toss and elected to field first. 

De Villiers made an unbeaten 101 as South Africa chased down a target of 237 with five wickets and six overs to spare.

For the third successive match, an English batsman made a century but finished on the losing side.

Opening batsman Alex Hales hit 112 but lacked significant support from his teammates as England were bowled out for 236 after being sent in to bat.

The win completed a remarkable turnaround for South Africa after they had been well beaten in the first two matches.

While chasing the total, AB played a captain's knock (101*) to help his side not just win the match but also seal the series as well.
