Sundar Raman steps down as IPL COO, BCCI accepts resignation

New Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) COO Sundar Raman on Tuesday stepped down from his position.

The controversial cricket administrator's resignation was accept by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and he is expected to end his association with the Indian board on November 5.

According to ESPNCricinfo, Raman was told by Manohar to resign voluntarily or face the sack during BCCI's annual general meeting on November 9.

Raman submitted his resignation on Monday during a meeting with Manohar in Nagpur.

Raman was appointed COO of the IPL by Lalit Modi in January 2008.

“Raman should have gone immediately after the Mudgal Committee report found him prima facie guilty of wrongdoings. He ought to have stepped down immediately at that time. Now, to restore the faith of people in IPL and the game, Raman needs to go,” Manohar was quoted as saying by the Indian Express on July 19, 2015.

Raman is currently under investigation in connection with the 2013 IPL corruption scandal and will appear before the Lodha Committee on November 15.
