Vijay Hazare Trophy: Shikhar Dhawan fails to steal thunder ahead of Australia tour

New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan's poor form continued as the southpaw once again failed with the willow in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Gujarat on Monday.

Dhawan, got out cheaply as he scored mere five runs off nine balls before giving his wicket to RP Singh.

Dhawan, who has been going through a rough patch for quite some time now, missed the last chance to shine before taking a flight to Australia to play five-match ODI series and three T20s.

It was the best chance for Delhi cricketer to make a statement and get back his lost form, when Gujarat set a challenging total of 273 runs in front of Delhi.

Dhawan, Ishant Sharma are two Team India regulars, who are playing for Delhi, which is led by Gautam Gambhir.

If Delhi beat Gujarat in today's encounter, then it would be their first Vijay Hazare Trophy title since 2012-13.
