Carrying his brilliant form from limited-overs cricket to whites, Kohli, who slammed four centuries in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, was unbeaten on 143 at stumps.

SCORECARD

After Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first, India lost two wickets in form of Murali Vijay (7) and Cheteshwar Pujara (16).

While Vijay was dismissed by pacer Shannon Gabriel, Pujara was scalped by leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.

Jason Holder and his men had to wait for the third wicket as Shikhar Dhawan (84) and Kohli stitched a 105-run stand for the third-wicket partnership before the left-hander was trapped in front of the wicket by Bishoo.

After Dhawan's departure, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane (22) added another 57-run stand for the fourth wicket. It was then that Rahane became Bishoo's third victim.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the next man in and he was unbeaten at 22 along with Kohli at close of play, having added unbeaten 66 runs for the fifth-wicket.
