Srinagar: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has increased online registration quota for pilgrims willing to undergo the religious voyage to the cave shrine after getting huge public response of its registration via the Internet initiative. Over 3.5 lakh people have registered since May 7 for the annual Amarnath Yatra this year through various online facilities, banks and post offices, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board CEO Navin K Choudhary said.
At a review meeting yesterday, SASB - which is chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, decided to release an additional quota for online registration through JK Bank website. "The move was taken after it was observed that online registration has been most favoured and found convenient by the pilgrims," an official spokesman said.
The annual pilgrimage to Amarnath shrine cave is scheduled to commence from June 25.
