Euro 2016: Italy vs Spain - As it happened...

*Italy knocked out the reigning champions Spain. What a performance from Azzurri. Now Italy will play against Germany in the quarter-finals.  

*FULL TIME - ITALY 2-0 Spain.

*GOAL! ITALY 2-0 Spain. Pelle, drills home on the half-volley from the edge of the six-yard box! 

*Going by the records, Spain now have a best chance to score a goal as they have scored 16 goals in the last 10 minutes of European Championship games, more than any other side in the competition's history.

*Pedro coming on for Spain in place of substitute Aritz Aduriz in the 83rd minute.

*In the 82 minute, Italy send on Lorenzo Insigne for Eder.

*Another excellent save from Buffon in the 77th minute. The ageing goalie this time beats away a blistering strike from Pique.

*Now Spanish players are getting into their element. The ball comes to Iniesta, who picks out a perfect volley aimed towards the top corner, but BUFFON saves a sitter in the 75th minute.

* In the 50 minute, Spain miss a close chance to equalise the score as Morata somehow sends a header straight into the arms of Buffon from five yards.

*As the 2nd half starts, Spain make a change. Nolito goes as Aritz Aduriz comes on in his place. 

*First Half - As the first half comes to an end, one can easily say that Azzurri are in pole position to make their way into the next round. 2nd half is expected to be more thrilling. 

*Another world class save from David de Gea. Emanuele Giaccherini drills a shot towards the top corner before the De Gea intervenes. Third outstanding save by the ManU goalkeeper. 

*2nd Yellow card of the match to Nolito as he stepped on Daniele de Rossi's foot in the 42nd minute. ​

*For the records, Spain have conceded their 1st goal in a knockout game of a major tournament for the first time since 2006 vs FRA, 10 years ago. 

*GOAL! ITALY 1-0 Spain. Title holders are 0-1 down as Giorgio Chiellini breaks the deadlock in 33rd minute.  

*A strong contact in the 26th minute between Morata and Parolo. Morata holds his face after facing an elbow from Parolo.

*After the surprising start, the game has become more settled now as Spain has started enjoying the possession.

*Italy have started aggressively as they ventured into opposition territory almost twice. 

*Spain are in white strip jersey, while, Italy are in blue.

*The much anticipated match has begun. 

*The players from both the teams have come to the pitch and are all set for the national anthems. 

With 10 wins to each sides name along with 4 draws, defending champions Spain prepare to face fellow favourites Italy for the 35th time. Having defeated the Antonio Conte's Azzurri the last two times, Vincent del Bosque's La Roja will look to complete the hat-trick tonight.
