Margao: Sporting Clube de Goa rallied from behind in the second half to hold Salgaocar to a 1-1 draw in the Hero I-League at Nehru Stadium in Fatorda here on Thursday.
Sporting Clube de Goa held the ball possession in the early part of the first half but it was Salgaocar who took the lead in the 27th minute through Darryl Duffy.
Sporting Clube de Goa came back strongly in the second half by equalising in the 77th minute through Marcus Mascarenhas after Salgaocar's Keeper Karanjit Singh denied them on couple of occassions to earn man of the match award.
The draw takes Sporting to 8 points from six matches, while Salgaocar have two points from six matches.
Sporting Clube de Goa could not seriously trouble the well-balanced rival defense.
On the other hand, Salgaocar, though took time to settle down, made a couple of threatening moves and surged ahead in the 27th minute.
Following a corner kick from the right, Gurjinder Singh header was flicked into the net by striker Darryl Duffy to have Salgaocar leading 1-0 at half time.
Sporting Clube de Goa created chances in the second half but were denied by rival keeper Karanjit Singh until Marcus found the net in the 77th minute following Odafe Okolie's shot which hit the post and came back to Marcus who made no mistake in finding the net.
