Jose Mourinho: New boss at Theatre of Dreams promises Champions League next season
United finished fifth last season and have qualified for the UEFA Europa League group stages.
New Delhi: English giants Manchester United on Tuesday officially unveiled their new coach Jose Mourinho at the Theatre of Dreams with the Portuguese facing the media for the first time since taking the reins from the sacked Louis van Gaal.
“It will be easy, even honest and pragmatic from my side to focus on the last three years, to say 'let’s try to get back to the Champions League, to get back into the top four, to do well in the Europa League'.
“I am not so good at that. I am more aggressive and to say that we want to win. We are not going to get everything, of course, but we want to," the Portuguese was quoted as saying by the club's website.
United finished fifth last season and have qualified for the UEFA Europa League group stages.
"I like specialists, not multi-functional players. I am very specific with my approach, so I need specialists for that. You always need multi-functional players to help you when you have injuries, but I prefer specialists,” the self anointed `special one` added.
Former Chelsea boss Mourinho succeeds Dutchman Louis van Gaal, who was sacked after United's FA Cup success in May. Regarded as England's most successful club won the FA Cup.
But their campaign was generally viewed as another disappointment, prompting the sacking of Van Gaal in May.
