Welcome to our live coverage of the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in Zurich's Hallenstadion.

Extraordinary FIFA Congress 2016: As it happened...

New Delhi: Governing body of world football is set to elect a new leader on Friday in a bid to erect FIFA's image post the downfall of former boss Sepp Blatter.

Updates:

After Round 1: Infantino (88), Salman (85), Ali (27), Champagne (7). Since no one got 2/3 majority, 2nd round will begin now.

If nobody gets the two-third majority, another vote is held in which only a majority is required.

Whichever candidate wins a two-thirds majority in the first vote, will win.

In a major update, Tokyo Sexwale has withdrawn his name from the presidential race.

The landmark presidential contest has turned into a battle between Asia and Europe with Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Gianni Infantino being termed as front-runners to win the election.

The other three men in the race are former FIFA vice-president Prince Ali bin al Hussein, an ex-FIFA official Jerome Champagne and South African tycoon Tokyo Sexwale.

FIFA is also expected to pass reforms during its extraordinary Congress in Zurich's Hallenstadion.

The result is uncertain and experts say that football leaders will not be able to escape multi-national corruption investigations even with a new president.
