But in the reshuffle of police officials yesterday, the Rangasamy Government has transferred and posted IPS officer Monica Bharadhwaj as Yanam Superintendent of Police. The recent rampage by a mob during labour unrest resulting in the lynching of President of Operations and Maintenance wing of Regency Ceramics M K Chandrasekhar on January 27 had triggered a demand from most of the organsiations and also opposition that Yanam should have an IPS officer.
Opposition parties had petitioned Lt Governor seeking among other things posting of a SP in the IPS rank for Yanam citing violent incidents.
