New Delhi: After winning two matches in a row, Sunil Chhetri-led India will be high on confidence as they take on Maldives on Wednesday in the Saff Championship 2015.
Blue Tigers beat Sri Lanka 2-0 in their opening encounter, a match where they dominated the proceedings throughout and were deprived of several goals as a result of Sujan Perera's outstanding saves.
In their final group match, Chhangte Lallianzuala became India's youngest goal scorer as the hosts bounced back from a goal down to beat Nepal 4-1. The 18-year-old Lallianzuala’s (81st, 90th minute) twin strikes came in the final 10 minutes of the match after Rowlin Borges (26th minute) and skipper Sunil Chhetri (68′) found the target for India.
Since Robin Singh, who was India's hero against Nepal, has been ruled out of the tournament, the onus will be once again on Chhetri to put a good show against Maldives.
