New Delhi: It's shocking but true that Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli remained more popular than Argentine star footballer Lionel Messi, at least on Google.

In 2015, Kohli remains the most searched sportsperson on Google, while, Barcelona forward holds the 2nd spot.


The year 2015 has been quite eventful for the 27-year-old Indian skipper.


Amazingly, six Indian sportspersons figured in the top-10 list, including Sachin Tendulkar (3rd), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (4th), Rohit Sharma (8th) and Yuvraj Singh (9th).


Popular Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo is fifth in the list.


Sania Mirza, who has been an amazing year as far as major slams are concerned, is the only Indian non-cricketer in the list, as she ranked seventh.


Top ranked tennis player, Novak Djokovic is behind Yuvi as he calimed the ninth spot.


However, no sportsperson found a spot in the top-10 most searched 'people' in India in 2015, which was led by Sunny Leone.
