Valencia, Spain: Spanish football club Valencia on Sunday said one of their fans died during their tie with Barcelona at the Mestalla Stadium here.
The Catalan giants were held to a 1-1 draw here on Saturday night, reports BBC.
Reports from Spain claim the fan collapsed after he celebrated Valencia's equaliser. It was forward Santi Mina who restored parity for the hosts in the 86th minute of the game against the table toppers.
The game also saw former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville taking over as the new head coach of Valencia.
"Valencia were sad to learn of the death of a fan following the match at Mestalla on Saturday. The club wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased," Valencia said in a statement.
