Indian hockey captain Sardar Singh accused of attempt to rape by fiancee: Report

New Delhi: India hockey captain Sardar Singh is in a spot of bother, after his fiancee has filed a police complaint accusing him of attempt to rape.

According to reports, the Jaypee Punjab Warriors skipper's fiancee Ashpal Bhogal has filed a complaint alleging false promise of marriage made by the player.

This allegation comes as a big setback for the Indian captain who has been seen as a motivational and inspirational sportsperson and has set high standards for youngsters.

Sardar Singh and Ashpal Kaur first met in 2012 during London Olympics after which both started to live together.

In 2014, the couple had got engaged.

Reports also say that Aspal had played for the U19 England Hockey team.
