Hello and welcome to day three of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (Australia). Sathish Kumar Sivalingam made India proud with a gold medal early on Saturday in the 77kg weightlifting category. He lifted 317kg in all (144kg in Snatch and 173kg in Clean and Jerk). The 25-year-old man from Tamil Nadu proved far superior to his opponents. Later, India's Venkat Ragala won India their fourth gold totalling 338 kg in the 85kg category. With hose two medals, India's tallied six medals. India's badminton and table tennis teams also did well on Saturday and reached the semis. However, Vandna Gupta failed to leave an impression in the 63kg weightlifting category. In a result that will rankle Indian fans, the men's hockey team squandered a 2-0 lead and had to settle for just one point against Pakistan, who scored in the dying moments of the match to hold their arch-rivals at 2-2. On Friday, India had clinched two more medals through weightlifters Sanjita Chanu (gold) and Deepak Lather (bronze) after Mirabai Chanu and Gururaja Poojary's gold and silver respectively on the opening day of the event.
