Anti-Modi cop granted bail by Supreme Court
Gujarat cadre IAS officer Pradeep Sharma, under arrest for alleged irregularity in land allotment to private firms, was Tuesday granted bail by the Supreme Court.

New Delhi: Gujarat cadre IAS officer Pradeep Sharma, under arrest for alleged irregularity in land allotment to private firms, was Tuesday granted bail by the Supreme Court.
A bench headed by Justice Aftab Alam passed the order after Sharma agreed to furnish a surety of Rs five lakhs.
The 1984 batch IAS officer alleged he is being targeted by the Narendra Modi government because his younger brother Kuldip Sharma, a senior IPS officer in the state, has "unmasked" many misdeeds of Modi since the 2002 Godhra riots. The court also imposed stringent conditions on Sharma who has been in jail for the last 16 months. He will have to be present in the trial court on each hearing and report to local police station once in a week.
Sharma has also been barred from leaving the country and would have to keep the state authorities informed about his movement within the country. Sharma, who is accused of alleged irregularity in land allotment to private firms in Kutch district, moved the apex court against the order of Gujarat High Court which had dismissed his bail plea.
