McLaren parts ways with Kevin Magnussen

New Delhi: Formula One outfit McLaren has dropped Kevin Magnussen as its reserve driver, according to reports published on Friday.

The Danish driver, in a report in in Motorpsort.com, revealed that he received an email from Ron Dennis's personal assistant Justine Bowen explaining that there would be nothing for him in the future.

Confirming the 23-year-old's departure from the Woking-based outfit, Mclaren chairman Dennis told Autosport, "Evidently, we have no space for him at McLaren-Honda as a race driver next year, but there is no shame in being edged out by two world champions, Fernando and Jenson."

Earlier this month, Magnussen's hopes of a McLaren race seat in 2016 were ended when Jenson Button was confirmed alongside Fernando Alonso.

Regarded as one of the future stars of motor racing, Magnussen raced for McLaren last year alongside Jenson Button.

But after the arrival of Fernando Alonso from Ferrari before the start of the 2015 season, he was dropped to a reserve driver role. During Alonso's recuperating period, he did raced in the season opening Australian Grand Prix.
