New Delhi: Prodigious Dutee Chand on Friday re-wrote women's 60m sprint national record at the 7th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Doha.
The 20-year-old sprinter from Gopalpur in Odisha clocked 7.28 secs in her heats, which also helped her better the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships record.
The Aspire Dome witnessed the Indian athlete qualifying as the fastest finalist.
The previous Indian record in the event was in the name Arjina Khatun, who registered a timing of 7.81 secs the 2009 Hanoi Asian Indoor Games.
However, her Indian team-mate Srabani Nanda was disqualified in the heats following a false start.
Nanda had won a silver in women's 100m race and a gold in 200m in the just-concluded South Asian Games, in Guwahati.
