New Delhi: Prodigious Indian boxer Vijender Singh increased his professionals stakes on Saturday with yet another impressive bout. The 30-year-old knocked out Dean Gillen in Dublin's National Stadium to make two wins out of two.

Vijender, who notched up a Technical Knockout against Sonny Whiting in his pro debut fight last month, landed couple of strong punches and soon the referee was forced to count out the part-time fire-fighter from Nottingham in the first round of the four-round bout.

The Indian boxer was was introduced with the traditional Punjabi music and dancing. He started the bout landing a series of stinging punches. A visibly shaken Gillen failed to read Vijender's movement, and found himself taking a knock-out punch on the jaw, and crashing into the canvas.

Moments ago, to the amusement of everyone, a flailing punch from Vijender tumbled the referee.

Like the Indian Olympic medalist, Gillen entered the bout as an undefeated boxer in a short pro-career, after winning the 2013 World Police Games in Belfast, where he knocked out all of his opponents to claim the gold medal. But, he turned out to be a no-match for the technically superior Indian boxer.

Gillen made his pro debut in May this year with a points win over Shaun White and followed that up in September with a points win over Lewis Van Poetsch.

The middleweight fight was billed as 'Battle of the Badges', with the Indian being a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Haryana and Gillen a firefighter serving in Nottingham.

The bout was originally scheduled for October 30 in London, but rescheduled o November 7 in Dublin due to technical reasons.
