New Delhi: The spectre of doping continue to haunt Russia with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday upholding an appeal by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) the Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA).

According to reports, Russian athletes Olga Kaniskina and Sergey Kirdyapkin will be stripped of their respective medals from the 2012 London Olympics.

The IAAF appealed on six cases where they said RUSADA had been "selective" in annulling previous results of the athletes after they were banned for irregularities in their biological passports.

Kaniskina and Kirdyapkin were two of those six athletes.

Kaniskina, who won silver in the 20km event behind compatriot Elena Lashmanova, had received a two year ban for doping in 2014. She was also the Beijing 2008 Olympic champion.

Now, the CAS has disqualifying her results between August 15, 2009 and October 15, 2012.

Kirdyapkin, also a race walker, was stripped of all results he achieved at the athletic competitions between August 20, 2009 and October 15, 2012, including his 2012 Olympics gold.
