Superb four for Vijender Singh: Indian pro beats the venom out of Hungarian Alexander Horvath in Liverpool

Vijender won the bout in the third round, with the referee stopping the contest.

New Delhi: Indian pro boxer Vijender Singh remained unbeaten with an easy win over Hungarian Alexander Horvath on Saturday at the Echo Arena, Liverpool. The Olympic medallist took three rounds to register his fourth successive win of a short professional career.

The victory will give the 30-year-old middleweight boxer enough confidence ahead of his India debut in June, in which he will fight for the WBO Asia belt.

Today's match-up was an undercard fight in the WBO World Lightweight title bout featuring the champion Terry Flanagan and Derry Mathews.

Fighting from blue corner, Vijender dominated his 20-year-old opponent, who was reportedly drinking snake's blood to enhance his endurance levels, from the start, despite a series of punches coming from the Hungarian in the first round.But the real difference came when the Indian landed couple of one-twos before the first gong.

It was not the cleanest of the bouts but the Indian managed to show his class, in all aspects. The Hungarian somehow managed to survived the second round, despite Vijender landing numerous punches.

One a minute into the third round, the referee stopped the contest after a body nudge following a punch from Vijender floored Horvath. In the end, it proved to be a simple boxing routine knock-out for the Indian.

And the bought was finished in the third round with referee stopping the contest.

Earlier, Vijender said that “Main use itna maarunga ki saara saanp ka khoon nikal jaayega (I will hit him so much that all the snake blood will come out)."

The Indian made his pro debut with a Technical Knock-Out win over Sonny Whiting of England last October at Manchester Arena. It was followed by an impressive Knck-out agains another Briton Dean Gillen in the following month in Dublin.

He ended the year with another TKO, over Samet Hyuseinov of Bulgaria in Manchester in December. Altogether, Vijender hasn't spent no more than six rounds in the rings during those three bouts.

Unlike his previous opponent, Horvath was an experienced boxer with a decent record of winning 5 out of 7 fights and has 31 rounds under his belt to count for experience.

The bout was originally scheduled for last month but was delayed owing to technical issues.
