New Delhi: Soon after noted Indian author Shobhaa De posted a tweet mocking Indian athletes' performances in Rio Olympics, shooter Heena Sidhu slammed it saying that nobo.
Speaking to CNN News 18, Sidhu said that nobody in India cares about Indian sportspersons and it's only during the Olympics that they start to show some interest.
Reacting to De's tweet, Sidhu, who failed to win a medal at Rio despite participating in two events, said that she would want experts to talk about India's performances.
"I would want experts to comment, not people who are two months bubbles," she said.
Soon after Indian men's hockey team lost their second match 2-3 to Germany, here is what De tweeted.
Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity.

Replying on behalf of Indian contingent, here is show Sidhu expressed her views in a series of tweets.
Some ppl have been criticizing the Indian Players for 'taking selfies and coming back empty handed'. To them I say, we fight. (1)

Need to introspect why. Maybe it wud be nice if you write abt Sports sometimes... just sometimes...So that it becomes a national movement(3)

There is no reason a billion ppl cannot do well at the Olympics. No reason at all.
