New Delhi: While India are yet to win a medal at Rio Olympics 2016, the athletes have been putting a lot of efforts and have made several sacrifices to perform at their best in the biggest sporting extravaganza.

PV Sindhu, who advanced into the semis of women's singles semi-final, has not been using her mobile phone for the last two months, said her mother.

Speaking to CNN News 18, her mother said that in the last two months, Sindhu has focused totally on her training and has not been even using her mobile phone. In order to speak to her, one has to call on her coach Pulleila Gopichand's number.

While Sindhu's mother spoke to her over the phone after her quarter-final match, her father could not even speak to her. Beaming with joy, Sindhu's parents were confident about her daughter's chances of winning a medal at Olympics 2016.

The 21-year-old from Hyderabad defeated world number two and London Olympics silver medallist Wang Yihan of China in straight games 22-20, 21-19 to keep India's medal hopes alive at Rio.

It was their seventh meeting with Wang still leading 4-3 after their quarter-final encounter.

Sindhu will take on winner of all-Japanese quarters between Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi in semis on Thursday.
