New Delhi: Sakshi Malik on Thursday secured India's first medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics.
While the likes of Abhinav Bindra and Dipa Karmakar came close, the wait for a first medal was quite painful for Indian sports lovers.
This after a 119-strong contingent had arrived in Rio with a hope of delivering India's best ever Olympics show.
It now remains to be seen whether PV Sindhu and wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Narsingh Yadav can add to the tally.
But soon after Malik won, Pakistani journalist Omar Quraishi mocked India for celebrating the bronze medal.
Finally one of the 119 competitors that India sent to Rio has won a medal - a bronze - now see how they portray it as if they won 20 golds

The tweet infuriated several Indians but the most prominent among them was legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.
This is how Big B responded to a rather distasteful remark from across the border.
For me it is worth a 1000 golds and even that is not enough. Pride for Sakshi, proud that she is Indian and a woman https://t.co/io5JyaMTUP
