New Delhi: After a stirring Olympics, the 2016 Rio Games will officially put a bow early Monday morning.
Here's everything you need to know about the closing ceremony:
The ceremony: As per traditional protocol, the ceremony will feature cultural programs from the host country, a farewell speech from the International Olympics Committee president Thomas Bach and the head of Games' organizing committee Carlos Arthur Nuzman.
It will be followed by the official handover of the Olympic flag from Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes to Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike.
But the best part of any Olympics closing ceremony is athletes walking together, without any distinction or grouping by nationality in the Parade of Athletes.
They will enter the stadium, just after the Parade of Flags, where flag bearers from each participating country enter in single file.
For India, bronze medallist Sakshi Malik will be the flagbearer.
Football legend Pele, who missed the opening ceremony due to an illness, could make an appearance.
Besides, A performance by Norwegian electronic tropical music producer Kygo is scheduled.
Japanese capital is the hosts of 2020 Summer Olympics. A special presentation from Japan is expected to showcase their eagerness to host the games.
Famed singer Ringo Sheena is expected to lead the Japanese presentation.
Then, the extinguishing of the Olympic flame.

VENUE: Maracana Stadium. The iconic stadium played host to a colourful opening ceremony, and an equally enthralling closing ceremony is expected.
