Rio de Janeiro: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu, who thumped Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to enter the final of the women's singles event of badminton competitions, said on Thursday that she will give her best shot to win a Gold medal for India.

"My target is gold and I will play my heart out, Sindhu told reporters after the event.

It will be the biggest match of my career," she added.

 

 

World No.10 Sindhu registered a 21-19, 21-10 triumph in the semi-finals over world No.6 Okuhara to become the first Indian shuttler to enter the final of the Olympics.

With this win, double World Championship bronze medallist Sindhu improved her head-to-head record against reigning All England Open champion Okuhara to 2-3.

In the final, she will face two-time reigning world champion Carolina Marin of Spain, who beat defending champion Li Xuerui of China 21-14, 21-16.

 

 

On Thursday night, wrestler Sakshi Malik created history by winning a bronze medal, India's first in Rio 2016. India's girl power is surely coming to the fore towards the end of the Summer Games.
