Rio de Janeiro: In a ceremony that is expected to last over four hours, Rio Olympics 2016 is all set to kick off with a bang.

Considering the fact that the country is facing financial crisis, the creators of the event are said to have spent 10 percent of what London spent on their opening ceremony in 2012.

What's the timing and how long will the ceremony last?

The event is said to go for over four hours which will include plenty of action. The IST timing of the event is 04:30 am, Friday morning.

Where will the event take place?

To make sure that the event is attended by maximum spectators, the iconic Maracana stadium is the venue for the opening ceremony. The stadium can accomodate 74,738 spectators.

Who are the creators of the opening ceremony?

While renowed director Danny Boyle was the brain behind London Olympics opening ceremony, Brazilian film director Fernando Meirelles and producer Daniela Thomas have created the opening ceremony for Rio Olympics.

Who are the stars to feature in the event?

While not much has been revealed about the events and star attraction, Brazil supermodel Gisele Bundchen, often regarded as one of the "sexiest ever", will be one of the key highlights of the opening ceremony. The former Victoria Secret model will perform in an undisclosed act, which will depict the life in Rio de Janeiro. Transgender model Lea T. will also play a role.

Celebrated singer Anitta and other musical gems like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil would perform during the opening ceremony.

The ceremony will also feature a poetry reading from renowned actors Judi Dench and Fernanda Montenegro.
