It was revealed that at least 120 of the approximately 11,000 athletes competing in Rio have served doping suspensions.

New Delhi: Rio Olympics 2016 will always be remembered for the absence of top Russian competitors, mainly in track and field events, barred for state-sponsored doping.

But, it was revealed that at least 120 of the approximately 11,000 athletes competing in Rio have served suspensions or had to return medals for doping and were reinstated in time for this year’s Games.

That's about one out of every 100 competitors.

And of those, more that 25 have won medals at Rio.

Sarah Robles (United States), Weightlifting – Women's over 75 kg bronze medallist

Alexandr Zaichikov (Kazakhstan), Weightlifting – Men's 105 kg bronze medallist

Sohrab Moradi (Iran), Weightlifting – Men's 94 kg gold medallist

Nijat Rahimov (Kazakhstan), Weightlifting – Men's 77 kg gold medallist (with World Record)

Gor Minasyan (Armenia), Weightlifting – Men's over 105 kg silver medallist

Yulia Efimova (Russia), Swimming – Women's 100m and 200m breaststroke silver medallist

Kim Kuk-hyang (North Korea), Weightlifting – Women's over 75 kg silver medallist

Sun Yang (China), Swimming – Men's 200m freestyle gold, Men's 400m freestyle silver medallist

Aurimas Didzbalis (Lithuania), Weightlifting – Men's 94 kg bronze medallist
