New Delhi:  When everyone thought that India’s wait for medal at the Rio Olympics will probably never end, stepped-up wrestler Sakshi Malik to open her nation’s medal tally.

The wrestler, who competes in the 58-kg category, defeated Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 to win her maiden medal at the Olympics.

This is also the first medal ever to be won by a female wrestler at the Olympic stage for India.
