Rourkela: Two persons who had been accused of being Maoists and involved in killing of a CITU leader Thomas Munda in 2010, were acquitted by a local fast-track court on Monday due to lack of evidence.
Fast track Judge Gopabandhu Patnaik acquitted Buas Munda and Paulus Munda who were booked in the killing of CITU leader Thomas Munda on January 27, 2010. According to prosecution, both accused were arrested by Koida police after Thomas Munda`s body was recovered from railway track near Renjeda.
Thomas Munda was abducted by about 30 suspected Maoists on January 27, 2010 from Kalta mines area and his body was seized by police the next day. Both Buas Munda of Rehlatur village and Paulus Munda of Sanabalijor village under Koida police limit were booked in the murder case. PTI
