New Delhi: World number one Novak Djokovic defeated big-serving American John Isner in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the China Open on Friday.

With the win, the Serbian has extended his winning streak at the tournament to 27 matches. He won the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, in a match that lasted under an hour.


Djokovic has won five titles at the China Open in the past six years, excluding 2011, when he didn't play the tournament.


The 28-year-old will now play Spaniard David Ferrer, who beat Lu Yen-hsun of Taiwan 6-3,6-1 in another one-sided affair.


Earlier, former world number one Rafael Nadal reached his first hard-court semifinal of the year by beating Jack Sock of the United States 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. His last title on hard courts came in Doha, in January 2014.


Nadal will Fabio Fognini, who has beaten him three times this season, including the third round match at the US Open. The Italian beat Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
