New Delhi: Great Britain's Andy Murray continued his supreme outing for the defending champions as he went on to beat Japan`s Taro Daniel in their World Group, first round tie in Birmingham, England on Friday.
Despite playing his first match since the Australian Open final, as his wife Kim gave birth to their first child, the Scot enjoyed a 6-1 6-3 6-1 victory to put the hosts ahead in front of a packed house.
Murray said that he despite getting little out of breath, he served and played well.
"I was getting a little out of breath, but I played a good match and served well. I had unbelievable support today and it was great to play in front of a full house,"" he said.
Meanwhile, Serbian World No. 1 Novak Djokovic emerged victorious against Kazakhstan`s Aleksandr Nedovyesov. The Djoker went on to win the tie 6-1 6-2 6-3.
Despite having an eye infection, Djokovic closed out the match in one hour and 53 minutes.
