The second seeded pair took just an hour and 11 minutes to beat Spaniard-Argentine wildcard pair of Pablo Carreno and Busta Federico Delbonis 6-3, 7-5 in the first round of the 537,050-euro tournament.

Paes and Kubot will next take on Australian-Brazilian combine of Chris Guccione and Andre Sa for a place in the semi-finals.

The first set was an easy one for the winners, who broke their opponents only once -- enough to pocket the set and take advantage in the match.

Carreno and Delbonis came back stronger in the second set to break the second seeds once. But Paes and Kubot broke their wildcard opponents once more to seal the set and the match.

Though Paes and Kubot double faulted twice in the match to none of their opponents, they earned nine breakpoint chances to that of four the Spaniard-Argentine pair earned.

Paes and Kubot also won 66 of the 113 points played in the match.
