Novak Djokovic splits with coach Boris Becker after struggling in second half of 2016

World No. 2 tennis player Novak Djokovic has decided to part ways with coach Boris Becker. The Serbian, who has struggled in the second half of 2016, announced the news on his Facebook page.

New Delhi: World No. 2 tennis player Novak Djokovic has decided to part ways with coach Boris Becker. While the speculations were rife about Becker's future, the Serbian, who has struggled in the second half of 2016, confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

"After three very successful years, Boris Becker and I have jointly decided to end our cooperation. The goals we set when we started working together have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank him for the cooperation, teamwork, dedication and commitment," Djoker said.

Djokovic has won six Grand Slams since appointing Becker in December 2013, and held all four major titles at the same when he defeated Murray in the French Open final in June.

Without announcing the name of the German's successor, Nole said that he was looking forward to bouncing back in the next year.

"On the other hand, my professional plans are now directed primarily to maintain a good level of play, and also to make a good schedule and new goals for the next season. In this regard I will make all future decisions," he said.

Djokovic recently made a change to his coaching team, where he roped in Spanish spiritual guru Pepe Imaz ahead of the Paris Masters and World Tour Finals in London.

After winning his maiden French Open title earlier this year, Djokovic's form dipped drastically in the second half of 2016, where he was knocked out in the third round at Wimbledon, lost his opening match at the Olympics and was beaten in the US Open final.
