New Delhi: One of the most famed partnership in the world of tennis was undoubtedly that of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis.

The duo, often labeled as 'Santina', took the world by storm in 2015 by clinching nine titles, which included three Grand Slams as well.

However, the leading women's doubles team decided to end their partnership and the reason behind that is said to be recent poor results.

The leading women`s doubles pair have opted to end their partnership after suffering a slump in form following a trophy-laden 16 months together, the players confirmed on Thursday.

"After three grand slam victories and 11 WTA doubles titles together, we have mutually agreed that we would each be open to playing with other players for the remainder of the season," the pair said in a statement.

In order to clarify and put all the fabricated stories to rest, Hingis took to her official Instagram account (@martinahingis80) to explain the reasons behind their split.
