New Delhi: The all-conquering Indo-Swiss pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis added another trophy in its collection after winning a hard-fought China Open final match on Saturday.

Starting as the favourites to win the women's doubles title in Beijing, they beat Chan sisters from Chinese Taipei, Hao-ching and Yung-jan in three grueling sets, which lasted an hour and 40 minutes.


The US Open champions lost the first set in the tie-breaker 11-9, but returned strongly in the second set to win 6-1. Then, in an epic deciding third set, the experienced duo won 10-8.


In the previous three meetings, the Chan sisters had won a match against the top-ranked doubles team.


This is the eighth title for the Mirza-Hingis pair of the year, having already won the Indian Wells, Miami,  Charleston, Wimbledon, US Open, Guangzhou abd Wuhan titles. Besides, the pair also registered an impressive 46-7 win-loss record for the year till date.
