New Delhi: The semi-final line-ups for the Shanghai Masters was finalised on Friday with World number one Novak Djokovic setting up a dream clash with Andy Murray, while a resurgent Rafael Nadal takes on Jo-Wilfred Tsonga.
In the first quarter-final at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, Frenchman Tsonga fought back from one side down to beat big-serving South African Kevin Anderson 7-6 (8/6), 5-7, 6-4 in two hours and 43 minutes.
Tsonga's semi-final opponent, Nadal produced possibly his best tennis in a long time to beat the reigning French Open champion Stan Wawrinka in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. The 2009 finalist took just 64 minutes to dispatched the fourth-seeded Swiss, to book his second successive last four appearance in China.
Last Sunday, the former World number one from Spain lost to Djokovic in the Beijing final.
Top seed Djokovic continued his scintillating form in China, with a straight sets win over Australian upstart Bernard Tomic. The Serbian did survived a tricky first set tie-breaker, but played his usual dominant game to win the match 7-8 (8/6), 6-1. Djokovic is a two-time winner.
In the last quarter-final, third seeded Murray humbled fifth-seeded Tomas Berdych 6-1, 6-3 to set up a repeat of 2012 final, which he lost to Djokovic. It was Murray's third successive final, having won the titles in 2010 and 2011.
