New Delhi: World number one Novak Djokovic on Wednesday became the first professional tennis player to earn more than $100 million in prize money when he made the French Open quarter-finals for the 10th time.

The Serbian beat Spain`s Roberto Bautista Agut to enter the last eight thus earning $328,303 in the process. The 29-year-old entered the Roland Garros tournament with a total prize money of $99,673,404.

Djokovic defeated the 14th seeded Spaniard 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 to move into his 28th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final and 36th in all. He is seeking to win first title at Roland Garros and complete a career Slam.

Djokovic, who turned pro in 2003, missed the opportunity to cross the $100 million prize money mark in May, after losing the Rome Masters final to Andy Murray.

Roger Federer, having earned earned $98,011,727 since he turned pro in 1998, is the next closest player to breaking that barrier.

In women's section, French Open defending champion Serena Williams is the leader, having earned a total prize money of $75,929,696 in 21 years.
