CHENNAI: Actors-turned-politicians, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan were on Wednesday took part in the 101st birth anniversary celebrations of Tamil Nadu chief minister MG Ramachandran.
The two guests were present for the pooja launch of the late chief minister's dream project Kizhakku Africavil Raju, a motion capture film. The film is being made by Prabhu Deva Studios in association with Vels Film International.
The late MGR had in 1970s announced an action-adventure film to be shot around the world, titled Kizhakku Africavil Raju. However, since the actor had taken a plunge int politics, he could not complete the film.
On the 101 birth celebration of the star, the film is being revived.
The launch of the iconic project was held at the MGR’s Sathya Studio in Adyar.
Rajnikanth's presence at the event holds importance since it comes at a time when he is being seen as the next MGR in the making.
Earlier in the day, Kamal Haasan announced the beginning of his political tour and released a detailed plan of his pitstops across the state. The tour will commence on February 21 and will be undertaken in multiple phases.
On this tour, which will be flagged off from his hometown of Ramanathapuram, Kamal Haasan will be proceeding to the districts of Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai, where he will be interacting with locals.
