Indian Coast Guard hovercraft vessel crashes into country boat, fisherman injured

RAMESWARAM: An Indian Coast Guard hovercraft vessel crashed into a country boat on Sunday injuring a fisherman.

The incident took place early on Sunday morning near the Kurusadai island in Rameswaram. Under the impact of the collision, the boat suffered damage and sank, following the crash.

 The fishermen on the boat hailing from Pamban, were rescued by fellow fishermen. They were admitted to a government hospital.

An investigation into the collision is underway.

The incident comes days after two fishermen from Pamban were injured after being hit by a stray bullet allegedly fired during a training exercise by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel in the sea off this island town.
