Hyderabad: A man working as a driver with a cab aggregator, was on Tuesday arrested from Kothapet area here on charge of harassing and blackmailing a 21-year-old nursing student, police said.
Accused Pogula Raju (27), had befriended the young woman three years back, said police.
The woman shared her Facebook account details such as username and password with Raju when they enjoyed a good relationship.
However, later the accused started pestering the woman for a date and also used to pass lewd comments against her, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat said.
"After she started avoiding Raju and stopped all the communication with him. He bore grudge against her and using her Facebook details, he started sending indecent messages to her contacts," the Commissioner said.
Last month, the victim lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell of Rachakonda Commissionerate after which a case under relevant sections of IPC and IT Act was registered against Raju.
He was arrested from his house here, said police.
Police seized the phone which Raju used for sending messages from his possession.
