Telangana man digs up national highway, claims Lord Shiva asked him to retrieve a Linga buried underground
Lakhan Manoj of Gundlagadda told villagers that Lord Shiva appeared in his dream and tasked him with building a Shiva temple at a certain location.
Hyderabad: In a strange act of blind faith, a man dug up Warangal-Hyderabad highway near Pembarthy village in Jangaon district of Telangana after claiming that he had a dream that there was a Shiva Linga underground.
Lakhan Manoj of Gundlagadda told villagers that Lord Shiva appeared in his dream and tasked him with building a Shiva temple at a certain location. The 30-year-old added that the area must be excavated to retrieve a Shiva Linga.
Talking to The Hindu, the sarpanch of Jangaon Balne Siddu Lingam said: “Manoj is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and has been getting this dream since three years. He asked us to help him dig up the spot and construct the temple. He used to conduct prayers at this location every Monday. As Manoj swooned in excitement at this spot we believed him.”
Manoj began the excavation work near Tangutur on the Hyderabad-Warangal road on Monday morning after holding special prayers. He was not alone in this work; villagers helped him in realising his dream.
However, nothing could be found out even after digging 20 feet. The the action of excavating, however, created a traffic jam on the national highway.
The Telangana Police interrupted, stopped the work and arrested the persons involved in it.
