Earlier this month, HBO had confirmed that the epic fantasy show will return in 2019 for a six-episode final season, but the cable broadcaster had not specified the exact date or month.

Talking to Metro newspaper, Williams revealed the month the hit drama is supposed to debut.

"We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April (2019). That's a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There's a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all," Williams said.

"We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities," she added.

David Benioff and D B Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors for the new season.
