Mumbai: Ekta Kapoor is apparently in no mood to reveal the names of the actresses who will be replacing Mouni Roy and Adaa Khan as Naagins. One of Indian TV’s most popular producers, Ekta, had announced that the third season of Naagin will be back soon!
However, she had stated that Mouni and Adaa, who had played the two main characters – Shivanya and Shesha – respectively, wouldn’t be a part of the show anymore.
And since then, viewers have been wondering who all would play the lead characters. Not too long ago, there were rumours suggesting that Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti were roped in for the show. But latest buzz points at Sanjeeda Shaikh.
According to a report in After Hrs, Sanjeeda will play one of the Naagins.
“Two actresses will be roped in to play naagins, and one of them is Sanjeeda. Talks are on with Surbhi but it is not yet finalised,” the report quoted a source as saying.
While announcing Naagin 3, Ekta posted: “A new nagin arrives! As we bid Adieu to @imouniroy and @adaakhann from NAAGINwe welcome the NEW! Will soon reveal my new ‘naagin’ or should I say ‘NAAGINS’ #waitfornaagin3 (sic).”
Mouni, who has been the face of the show since the very beginning reacted to the post by writing: “that hurt a little but am excited too” (sic)
Ekta responded by posting: “@imouniroy u will always b a part of balaji! For now bigger things await u!!!!!! My dearest we will miss u on naagin ! (sic).”
The first season of the show which went on air on November 1, 2015 also featured Arjun Bijlani and Sudha Chandran in pivotal roles, while the second edition which premiered on October 8, 2016 had Karanvir Bohra and Aashka Goradia on board besides Mouni and Adaa.
The supernatural series inspired by fictitious tale of icchadhari Naagin or snakes blessed with the power to take any form of life on earth, revolved around Shivanya (Mouni) and Shesha’s (Adaa) revengeful mission.
