Pehredaar Piya Ki 2: Will this actor romance Tejasswi Prakash on screen?

Mumbai: Latest buzz suggests that controversial daily soap Pehredaar Piya Ki which was pulled off air after a directive from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry in the month of August, will be back with its second season.

The show featured Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar as Diya and child-artiste Afan Khan as Ratan Maan Singh, a mismatched married couple.

And now speculations are rife that Saath Nibhana Saathiya fame Rohit Suchanti will essay the role of Ratan Maan Singh. Initial reports suggested that Shantanu Maheshwari if the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa fame will be roped in for Ratan’s character but looks like Rohit had an upper hand.

According to reports, the character of Ratan will be shown returning to India after education abroad. The story will revolve around the complex relationship between Ratan and Diya. To make the story intriguing, the makers are also planning to introduce another female character as Ratan’s new love interest, reports suggest. So this would mean that Pehredaar Piya Ki 2 will deal with love-triangle.

For the uninitiated, here’s what had happened:

A string of complaints to the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC)were made  against the show which revolved around an 18-year-old girl marrying a nine-year-old boy under bizarre circumstances. Online petition were filed to ban the show and then the makers decided to change the time slot from prime time 8 pm to late night 10 pm.

However, following massive criticism for promoting ‘regressive content’, the show was abruptly stopped from being telecast. The decision to pull the show off air was reportedly taken under pressure from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions, the show also starred Parmeet Sethi, Kishori Shahane, Jiten Lalwani, Suyyash Rai and Anjali Gupta in pivotal roles.
