Mumbai: The makers of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ are reportedly miffed with Bhavya Gandhi, the boy who played the character of Tappu in the sit-com. Bhavya, recently quit the show after being associated with its since it began in 2008.
According to a report in dnaindia.com, originally attributed to Daily Bhaskar, Bhavya’s mother had revealed that her son had a number of film offers in his kitty. And in order to explore newer opportunities, the young boy decided to quit the show, which is one of India’s longest running TV shows.
Talking about Bhavya’s unprofessional behaviour, producer Asit Modi said that he is extremely upset with him.
Honestly, it was sad to see Bhavya quitting our show when we needed him the most. I was like a father figure to him and I supported him throughout these years. He signed a Gujarati movie without informing us. I did not interfere in it as long as my show did not suffer. We were shooting a special Republic Day episode and Tappu was required for it. Surprisingly, Bhavya refused to shoot. I was disheartened to see his behavior towards me and my team. Throughout these years, I always cooperated with him, but one cannot bear this kind of unprofessional behaviour. We had no other option rather than replacing him with a new face,” Daily Bhaskar quoted Modi as saying.
Raj Anadkat, who has replaced Bhavya as Tappu, has started shooting for the show which also stars Dilip Joshi, Disha Vakani, Shailesh Lodha and Neha Mehta in pivotal roles.
